"Shop quoted me $980 for pads and rotors. Ground Works did it in my driveway for less than half. Showed me the old rotor was still in spec. saved that part entirely."
Grinding? Squealing? Done on-site.
Mobile brake repair across Hampton Roads. Most front brake jobs done at your driveway in under 2 hours.
We bring the tools, the parts cart, and the torque wrench. You see the old pads before they get tossed and the new ones before they go on. Nothing gets billed that didn't need replacing.
Pads are gone and the backing plate is eating the rotor. Stop driving and call us. Every mile costs more.
High-pitched squeal usually means the wear indicator is dragging the rotor. Time for new pads.
Pedal goes too far before grabbing. Likely air in the lines, contaminated fluid, or a leaking caliper.
Wheel shakes when braking at highway speed. Warped rotor or uneven pad deposits. We measure runout to confirm.
Brakes pull the car to one side. Usually a sticking caliper or a collapsed brake hose on one wheel.
Could be low fluid, parking brake, or ABS. We scan the codes to see exactly which system is asking for help.
We measure pad thickness with a gauge, check rotor surface for grooves, hot spots, and minimum thickness against the spec stamped on it.
We pull the slide pins, check for sticking. Inspect the hardware kit, abutment clips, and the boot for tears. Anything seized gets replaced.
New pads + hardware. Rotors resurfaced or swapped. Bolts torqued to spec, never just "tight enough." Hub face cleaned to prevent runout.
Short drive to bed the pads in properly, then pedal feel check and torque verification. You drive away with even, quiet brakes.

"Grinding got really bad on the way home from work Friday. Called Saturday morning, they were at my place by 11. Front brakes done before lunch."
"Honest crew. They showed me a caliper slide pin that was seized and explained why my brakes were pulling. Fixed it for half what the chain shop wanted."
Most pads last 30,000-70,000 miles depending on how you drive and what pad material you've got. Daily city driving with a lot of stop-and-go wears them out faster. Highway commuting stretches them out.
Front brakes do about 70% of the stopping work, so they typically wear out first. Rear pads often last almost twice as long.
Depends on thickness. Every rotor has a "discard spec" minimum thickness stamped right on it. If the current thickness is still above that number with enough material to safely resurface, we'll cut them.
If they're at or below the discard spec, or warped, we replace. We measure with a micrometer before recommending either way, and you see the number.
Mid-grade ceramic aftermarket pads (think Akebono, Wagner ThermoQuiet, Bosch QuietCast) usually beat OEM for quietness and dust. They're often cheaper too.
We don't push premium pads unless you tow heavy, track-drive the car, or it's a performance vehicle that came with high-end brakes from the factory.
Cheap pads sometimes squeal cold or in the rain. That's not necessarily a problem. But that high-pitched, constant squeal at low speeds usually means the metal wear indicator is dragging the rotor. That's the pad's way of saying "replace me soon."
Grinding is different. Grinding is metal-on-metal. The pad is gone, and the backing plate is destroying the rotor. That's urgent.
Yes. In your driveway, garage, carport, or any covered spot. Apartment parking lots, gas stations with covered bays, anywhere with shelter for the rotor work. We just need a flat surface and enough room to swing tools.
